Letter from Cevin - July 2018

I’m just back from ALA in New Orleans, one of my favorite cities in the U.S. I was also here at the end of April for the New Orleans Jazz Festival. 

Next up: I’ll be headed to the Hudson Valley in Upstate New York for vacation with my family, enjoying the Fourth of July holiday week—watching the fireworks on the Hudson River, biking and hiking. 

Thank you for your support of the New York Rights Fair. It was a big success, with many opportunities for improvement and growth. The programming was awesome, featuring top rights professionals from around globe. 

Right on the heels of the show, NYRF signed a multiyear partnership agreement with BookExpo. This new agreement ensures that the two shows will work hand-in-hand going forward so that all participants get the maximum benefit from attending.

A quick reminder that the last of the PW Fall Announcements issues closes this month. Children’s Fall Announcements will be published on July 23rd, with a July 11th ad deadline. 

Looking ahead, I encourage you to nominate someone you know—or even yourself!—for PW Star Watch, the fourth annual event honoring up-and-comers in the publishing industry. 

The PW Star Watch nomination deadline is July 1, 2018, 11:59 p.m. EDT. 

The preview issue is slated to run in the September 3 issue (the deadline to advertise is August 21st). Stay tuned for more details on the New York celebration date in early September!
